The band at one time included steel guitarist Gordon Huntley who played on numerous sessions for well known Artists.  He was also a member of Mathews Southern Comfort and is best known for the hit "Woodstock",  The Alabama Hayriders over the years featured many singers such as Del Michael , Bobby Blain, Al Doherty and John Lindsey.

History

The members of the band have been in numerous Country Music bands over the years stretching back to the early 70s.You might remember the Kent based bands Prodigal, American Brew and Highway 40 which featured 2 of the members of Alabama Express. Also one of the band used to play in Frontier Express which was Al Doherty's backing band.The Alabama Hayriders was the previous band for 3 of Alabama Express members.  Alabama Hayriders was a well known band and was frequently featured on the BBC and the festival circuit.  The band was led by that accomplished guitarist George Brown who was equally at home with jazz style guitar as he was with Country.
